Has 2020 been a year or what? Although travel to many destinations is still not available, Walt Disney World is open and it remains the happiest place on earth! Everyone, especially, loves the holidays at Walt Disney World! With the COVID-19 pandemic still front and center, Walt Disney World has made some changes to their holiday festivities this year. Let’s start our holiday adventure with a look at all the available magical happenings at Walt Disney World for 2020.
Holiday festivities will take place throughout Walt Disney World resort November 6-December 30, 2020. Guests will be able to enjoy festive decor, seasonal food and beverages, as well as entertainment throughout all four theme parks and Disney Springs. Holiday themed merchandise will also be sold.
Santa Claus will be making special pop-up appearances throughout the parks and Disney Springs. If characters are your jam, don’t worry! There will be festive flotillas in Animal Kingdom, holiday promenades in EPCOT, and merry motorcades in Hollywood Studios. Magic Kingdom will have character calvacades with a special holiday twist. Christmas friends will appear on holiday floats wearing their holiday finest. This is especially fun since you will likely see characters and floats typically only seen at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Bring on the gingerbread men, reindeer, and elves! Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
Toy soldiers are my absolute favorite characters to see during the holidays at Walt Disney World! They will be marching through Magic Kingdom with the Main Street Philharmonic brining holiday music for all to hear.
Although the castle in Magic Kingdom will not have the Castle Dream Lights this year, there will be castle projections after nightfall transforming the castle into a Christmas sweater and other fun holiday backdrops. The perfect place for a family photo. Say cheese!
If you are like me, I start dreaming about all of the spectacular food offerings at Walt Disney World long before our trip. Dole whip and pretzels and churros and cupcakes and so many other things. Anyone else hungry now? Just me, ok. 😂 Let’s get to the food.
Minnie Mouse will be hosting a yuletide gathering at Hollywood & Vine beginning November 6th. Santa Goofy will be there with Minnie and other characters dressed in the holiday best. Beginning on November 27th, EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays will return with Holiday Kitchens throughout the World Showcase. At Disney Springs, Jock Lindseys’ Holiday Bar will feature a limited time menu with holiday favorites.
There is will be holiday decorations throughout the parks and resorts. The holiday trees are the perfect place to snap a holiday photo.
Although the holidays will be different this year at Walt Disney World there is still so much magic to experience. I can’t think of a better place to create lifetime holiday memories!
